VU campus is an easily accessible metropolitan hotspot located at Zuidas business area in the immediate vicinity of Schiphol Airport. The Amsterdam Venture Studios (AVS) at VU Campus already hosts a variety of science and medicine oriented startups , among which Lumicks, Optics 11, OPNT and Cytocypher. In the near future special efforts will be made to stimulate startup initiatives within the social sciences and humanities. Support comprises entrepreneurship education, courses, and facilities such as mentor pools and efforts linking students to the AVS startups.
VU Amsterdam provides easy access to its research facilities and state of the art laboratories. A noteworthy example is the first Demonstrator Lab of Amsterdam.
